Boaters get lucky in Gippsland waters
A large new jetty for use by recreational boaties and charter operators in Gippsland waters has been completed at Lakes Entrance, on Victoria’s Gippsland Lakes.
The new jetty at Cunninghame Quay is said to have been designed to blend a traditional piled jetty with a modern floating mooring system.
“Cunninghame Quay is an important addition to the facilities for pleasure and commercial boaters at Lakes Entrance,” said Nick Murray, CEO of Gippsland Ports.
“This is a new and safe destination for skippers passing through Bass Strait. It’s also a new destination for power and sail boaters cruising the Gippsland Lakes system.”
The eastern side of the jetty caters for the general boating public. It has 10 pontoon berths which provide short term moorings for vessels up to 15m. Services on the jetty include reticulated water, fire fighting equipment, power and lighting.
Construction of the new concrete jetty and installation of pontoon jetties was carried out by Jarvis Norwood Constructions from Swan Reach, for approximately $1.7 million.
