Honda to release new BF115

HONDA TO RELEASE NEW BF115

Honda has unveiled its new BF115 at the Miami International Boat Show in February.

Derived from the inline four-cylinder 2.4L DOHC engine used in Honda’s Accord motor vehicle, the redesigned BF115 incorporates a range of Honda-exclusive technologies that are said to deliver incredible power and superior fuel efficiency.

These include Boosted Low Speed Torque (BLAST™) air/fuel ratio linked ignition timing control technology, and a high-performance gearcase (said to deliver “explosive holeshot”) to quickly get boats on the plane.

Honda said fuel consumption on the BF115 had been reduced by 20 per cent over the previous model thanks to a new lean-burn control system, known as ECOmo (Economy Controlled Motor). The system is activated when the engine is in mid-range cruising rpm and the throttle is steady.

The new BF115 is also NMEA 2000-compatible, which allows engine management information like rev range, fuel consumption, cruising distance and alerts to be displayed on compatible electronic displays.

Honda said the new BF115 is scheduled for worldwide release in third quarter of this year. The engines will also be on display at major boat shows this year.
