ORDERS FLY FOR UP-RATED CRUISE CRAFT 685 EXPLORER
Cruise Craft has reported a string of orders for its Explorer 685 following the model’s up-rating to legally carry a single outboard up to 300hp.
Many new boats are already on the water, said Cruise Craft, with some carrying the Yamaha F300 V8 outboard and others fitted with the Verado 300. The boats were delivered by Cruise Craft dealers located in WA and Qld.
According to Peter Benston, sales and marketing manager at Cruise Craft, the acceptance of the re-rated Explorer 685 exceeded all projections.
“While we thought that there was solid market demand for greater power on the Explorer’s transom, we didn’t think that it would take off so quickly,” Benston said.
“It just goes to show that big horsepower is not the exclusive domain of skiers and performance boaters, fishos love to have plenty of grunt on the transom too.”
The new power rating was achieved through re-engineering the 685 model. This boosted the maximum rating from 270 to 300hp, without increasing the cost for buyers. Cruise Craft said the vessel not only satisfied the stringent requirements for CE Certification, but also came through rigorous on-water testing without flinching.
All Cruise Craft Explorer 685 models manufactured since October 1, 2009, have benefitted from the upgrade.
