FISHING GEAR: Shimano Symetre reel
The Shimano Symetre reel is an affordably priced tournament performance reel designed to prevent wind knots and avoid the sloppy line lay of other name-brand reels.
The Symetre is armed with Shimano’s propulsion line management system, featuring a propulsion spool lip, an SR one-piece bail system, and a Power Roller III for eliminating line twist. Other standard feature include lightweight aluminium and graphite (1000 size only) frames, a cold forged aluminium spool, Fluidrive II, Dyna-Balance, Super Stopper II and super slow oscillation.
Shimano said its new 1000 size will be of special interest to the ‘twig’ fisherman. This reel is perfectly suited for ultra light line classes and lure weights for trout and bream. The larger models also feature a high retrieve ratio for launching whitebait sized slices and stickbaits at frenzied pelagic schools.
