BAVARIA CRUISER 46 PREVIEW

Bavaria Cruiser 46 Preview

German boatbuilder Bavaria has launched a new Cruiser 46, the third in the eight-boat sailboat range to hit the water this year.

The latest sailing yacht, like the rest of the Bavaria Cruiser line, was developed in collaboration with Farr Yacht Design (USA) for the naval architecture, and Design Unlimited (UK) responsible for the exterior styling and interior design details.

Also released this year were the Cruiser 41 and 37, the latter a nominee for the 2014 Euro Yacht of the Year award in the Family Cruiser category.

Bavaria said the Cruiser 46 features the new, clean-deck design and large side coachroof windows that has proved popular with the Cruiser 37, 41 and 56 models.
Among the highlights of the new boat is a roomy cockpit with ergonomically-arranged seating bays for optimal comfort and an innovative twin-wheel steering for “superb handling and all-round visibility”, we're told.

The cockpit table has integrated chartplotter, large hinged leaves and lamp, plus expansive lockers. Option wise, now available are Garmin 710 screens integrated into the steering wheel modules.

Below deck, the 46-footer's interior has an open, spacious feel enhanced by abundant light and ventilation from sleek coach house side windows and overhead hatches. There are rounded edges throughout and stylish solid wood panelling and joinery.

If longer trips are planned or for crew meetings, Bavaria can option the integration of the chart table into the saloon table, where seating includes an additional folding settee in a galley island bench, with all seat backs now longer too.

Of particular note in the accommodation areas is the convertible forward master cabin with a dividing bulkhead, allowing the four-cabin version to be transformed into a three-cabin layout and back again as needed.
