News - Nautor's Swan rates 2012 a record-breaking year

Finland’s luxury sailboat builder Nautor’s Swan considers 2012 as one of its most successful years in recent times, with designs advanced to extend the range beyond the flagship Swan 105.

With a complete order book from the last 12 months, the Pietarsaari yard this year also witnessed the launch of the newest addition to the company’s SwanLine, the Swan 80S. The builder descibed the new addition as a performance-oriented hull with a clean deck layout masking comfortable internal volume and a wealth of technical features that combine to offer outstanding long-range cruising capabilities.

“She is a modern sailing yacht built to be fast, yet be perfectly in keeping with company’s traditional core values: elegant lines, luxurious interiors, ease of handling and reliability,” says the accompanying Swan press release.

Above deck, the builder said commitment to comfort on the Swan 80S is a priority, with the sweeping top of the raised saloon flowing into the entertainment cockpit amidships providing a protected area with access to the main companionway, which also benefits from an integrated in-deck bimini that is unique to new-model Swans.

Swan said its superyacht range continues to grow and earlier in 2012 introduced the Swan 105.
The first hulls are now in construction and the hull no.1 is due for launch in 2014.
The builder added its design team is also well advanced with plans for a larger model to complete the SwanLine, which currently ranges from the Club Swan 42 to the105, in addition to custom projects.

“Over the course of 2012 we will have launched eight new Swan Maxis,” said Enrico Chieffi, Nautor’s Swan managing director.

“We achieved an outstanding milestone in August with the launch of the Swan 90S, Freya, our 2000th Swan to launch. Our refit service continues to expand with ever more extensive projects being undertaken as we restore older models to their former glory and are able to work with owners to deliver their vision for their Swan.

“It is an exciting time for the company and we are looking forward to the end of launching season and the start of the next phase of construction for our 2013 deliveries,” he said.
