World launches include Clipper Motor Yachts’ release of the semi-displacement Cordova 45, while Australian luxury boatbuilder Maritimo debuts its new M60 Series II Motoryacht along with the M48 Series II Motoryacht. “As at mid-January, our exhibitor numbers were more than 250, which is on track with past years,” explained SCIBS general manager events and marketing, Sue Thomson.
“We would expect many more world and regional marine-product releases to be announced byan expected 400-plus exhibitors by the time of the Show’s opening in May.
“We also want to assure the marine industry and the general public that Qld’s floods have not affected our planning or inquiry rate at this point.
“We are on track to again produce a world-class event,” she said.
In other news, Thomson confirmed the president of Monte Carlo Yachts SpA, Carla Demaria will be a guest speaker at the Australian Marine Industries breakfast staged at the Show on Friday, May 20. This is a ticketed breakfast event open to the public. Details on ticket sales will be released closer to the Show.
Demaria founded Monte Carlo Yachts SpA in Italy and launched its first model, the Monte Carlo Yachts 76, last September in Europe. The model has won numerous awards since its launch, including the World Yacht Trophy for Design at the Cannes boat show.
SCIBS organisers confirmed exhibitors have been drawn from around Australia, NZ and the USA; many imported brands represented by Australian agents.

“We have gained further support from industry for our Sea Trial area,” said Thomson. SCIBS said it created a national initiative last year, introducing the ability for exhibitors to conduct Sea Trials during the show in a dedicated area. The Prestige Brokerage and Charter Boat Display will be available for exhibitors to showcase prestige brokerage boats 50 feet and over.
