BOAT SHOWS - Tasmania's big boat-show

The Hobart eastern shore suburb of Lindisfarne is the site of Tasmania’s biggest boat show next month, the Tasmanian Boating, Leisure and Water Sports Expo (October 16 and 17).

With a record number of exhibitors expected, show organisers are predicting it to be the biggest event yet. The venue is the Motor Yacht Club of Tasmania (MCYT) and currently more than 40 exhibitors are scheduled to attend.

Regarded as one of the premier events on Tasmania’s boating calendar, the Expo features more than 5000m² of outdoor exhibition space plus on-water activities planned around the 140-berth marina, where a broad range of boats, services and related recreational activities will be on display.

The MYCT’s recently upgraded clubhouse facilities will also host presentations on boating safety by Marine and Safety Tasmania, while the Bureau of Meteorology will be demonstrating a new forecasting system that will be operational next year. The Maritime Museum of Tasmania is there, too, hosting a display on the maritime history of the local area.

Catering and full bar facilities are provided at the clubroom overlooking the show, with the Derwent River, Hobart and Mt Wellington in the background.

Some of the businesses throwing in their support and sponsorship are Club Marine, Whitworths, The Mercury newspaper, 7HO-FM radio, Coastal Marine, A & K Winnebago, Bob Jane T-Marts, Little Constructions, Gary Cannan Electrical Services, and Southern Linen Services.

The MYCT is a 1 Ford Parade, Lindisfarne, and for further information, phone (03)62439021 or email: myct@bigpond.net.au
