BOAT SHOWS - Yacht and Boat Korea 2010
The upcoming South Korean boat show, Yacht and Boat Korea 2010, will stage an action-packed activity program coinciding with the October 14 to 17 event, organisers said.
Key activities include an international sportsfishing competition, Korea International Sports Fishing Game, on October 15 to 16 hosted by the Gyeongnam Provincial Government and organised by FS-TV and GnA International. The event has attracted participants from Japan and is expected to draw at least 35 competitors to the first prize of $US70,000 — part of a $US100,000 prize pool.
Other activities, which are part of the program, include a Marina Training Program by the Marina Industries Association of Australia (MIAA) on October 14.
The Association will present Marinas 101 training for 50 Korean delegates including elements such as managing a marina; regional, social and economic effects from a marina; and development and environmental issues. Guest speaker is Andrew Chapman, president of the MIAA Education Committee.
Yacht and Boat Korea 2010 is staged in the shipbuilding province of Gyeongsangnam-do in South Korea. The four-day boat show has confirmed a range of leading Korean companies will be present as well as exhibitors from China, Japan, Poland, Spain, Australia and New Zealand.
Event organiser GnA International confirms a range of Korean companies plus international companies including air-conditioning group, Dometic Marine Group in the US, and Mobicool International Limited of Hong Kong.
CK Marine has confirmed participation and is exhibiting the Beneteau Oceanis 23, Beneteau Platu 25 and Pontoon, while Hyundai Yachts is confirmed.
International Marketing Consultant Barry Jenkins said Yacht and Boat Korea 2010 offered generous incentives to international exhibitors relating to accommodation and other costs.
“This makes it attractive for international companies to test the waters at the Show, which offers a gateway to a leading area in northern Asia,” said Jenkins.
The Governor of Gyeongsangnam-do, Doo-kwan Kim will officially open the Show with a cultural ceremony expected to draw international guests.
Confirmed exhibitors at the Show include Yamaha, Hong Kong Marine, MIRI Corporation, and Vetus and Maxwell.
“IPM Management will also be at the Show. This is part of a group of leading companies offering management services and also acting as promoters, investors and consultants,” said Jenkins.
IPM Management said its assets include 177,000m² of berths for vessels, 14,000m² of commercial premises and a travel lift from 30 to 700 tonnes.
Based in Mallorca, Spain, the company intends to participate at Yacht and Boat Korea 2010 with models and samples of docks, electrical tower connections and travel lifts.
Jenkins said Australian entities, including Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show and Australian marine export group AIMEX, would also attend the Korean event along with AIMEX members MultiPanel, Bellingham Marine, Superior Jetties, Glowfast Marine, Voyager Catamarans and Austral Propellers.
Yacht and Boat Korea 2010 is staged at Danghangpo (Danghang Port), close to the city of Goseong, which is easily accessible by air, road or rail from Seoul or the city of Busan.
Jenkins said the South Sea coastal region of South Korea, Namhaean, offers pristine waters, deep waterways and is strategically located close to Asian economic giants such as China and Japan.
Yacht and Boat Korea 2010 will be staged at the Goseong Dinosaur Park, a major tourism attraction. Gyeongsangnam province is located in the southeastern end of the Korean peninsula.
Further activities for visitor at the Show include on-water experiences with motor and sailboat rides and activities for children.
The exhibition is staged by GnA International Co Ltd based in Changwon. For details on application forms and the downloadable exhibition kit, view www.yachtkorea.or.kr
