STEVE BATTON TO HEAD MARITIMO SYDNEY TEAM

Boating identity Steve Batton is planning to boost the Sydney luxury boating market after taking the reins as Dealer Principal of Maritimo Sydney.

Maritimo’s Peter Jenkins announced the appointment, saying Mr Batton will bring a wide range of strengths and experience to the business.

“Steve has great credentials in the boating industry and he has a positive vision for the Sydney luxury boating market,” said Jenkins.

David Stevens continues his role in sales at the dealership while Ryan Durman has been appointed as customer service representative for all Sydney clients.

Maritimo said Batton began working in the industry at the age of 12, washing boats at a brokerage on Sydney’s Pittwater. After studying finance at university, he worked as an options trader in the Sydney financial markets for four years but continued to spend weekends as a boat broker.

“Finally I decided I should follow my passion and focus fulltime in the boating business,” Batton said.

“The attraction of Maritimo is the company has a simple approach to the boating business. I have known and sold boats built by Bill Barry-Cotter for more than 20 years.

“The current range of Maritimos and Bill’s plans for the future are inspiring. We have big plans for the brand in Sydney over the coming year,” he said.

Batton and his team will be at the Maritimo display for the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show in May 20 to 23 where the company will unveil two new models, the 47 Sport Cabriolet with IPS propulsion and a 470 Offshore Convertible.
