LIVE - Sydney Boat Show and Riviera Update
“Things have stabilised. We’re building, selling and servicing boats,” says John Anderson, CEO, a man who has been through another receivership when he was running Four Winns boat company in America.
Among the bright spots are the Middle East and Europe, where business is actually picking up. Judging by the throngs at the SIBS over the balmy weekend, it’s not all doom and gloom on the domestic front, either.
“In fact, last weekend [before the boat show opened] was one of the busiest for traffic at our boat dealers. We’re now building a boat a week. The pace is picking up,” Anderson adds.
Importantly, Riviera has finally cleared a lot of showroom stock in America, effectively reducing its inventory, and paving the way for the release of new models.
New Riv’ releases at the SIBS include the 5000 Sport Yacht (pictured and replacing the 4700 SY) with Zeus drives, the 51 Open and Enclosed flybridge with triple IPS 600s, and 5800 Sport Yacht with triple IPS 600s.
Clearly, pod drives from Volvo Penta and Cummins MerCruiser Diesel are inspiring the designers at Riviera.
Among the great benefits of the pod drives are terrific gains in accommodation. There is a new 41 Open Flybridge coming soon with twin IPS 600s and a full-beam stateroom.
Today is the final day of the SIBS. Watch this space for more good news.
