Fury picks Verado 350 for cutting-Edge 282 Centre Console
West Australian boatbuilder, Fury Custom Boats, has selected the all-new Verado 350 SCi outboard to power its 282 Centre Console model which is helping to reshape the category in Australia, said Mercury Marine.
The Fury 282, a 28-footer which can seat up to 12 people, is a hybrid ? part centre console and part bowrider. Seating and table arrangements in the bow can be removed enabling it to convert into another sleeping compartment for three.
Mercury Marine said it is also the only centre console fitted with an electric toilet and double bed within the console, while the boat’s huge amount of shade and deck area are unmatched.
“The 282 was launched about a year ago and we initially used a Mercury 300hp outboard which provided excellent fuel economy and performance, but as soon as we learnt the Verado 350 SCi was available we moved up,” said Scott Fury, the man behind the company.
“The 282 is not a small boat, but with the 350 SCi we can reach almost 42kts, and the fuel economy is really very good.
“We’re based at Bibra Lake, just south of Fremantle, and we can make it to Rottnest Island and back using less than 50lt of fuel which is great.
“It’s simply a very refined engine which is what our clients want. It’s incredibly quiet and comes with a host of features,” Fury said.
The Fury 282 Centre Console will be displayed at the upcoming Perth International Boat Show (Aug 12 to 16), followed by the Mandurah Boat Show (Oct 9 to 11) and the Fremantle Boat Show (March 26 to 28).
“We have really high hopes for this model because it’s unlike anything else on the market,” Fur said. “And the Verado 350 caps off the package brilliantly.”
