Jeanneau 57 flagship

French boatbuilder Jeanneau recently launched a new flagship to its sailboat range, the Jeanneau 57, one of which could be in Australian waters later this year.

The Jeanneau 57, a collaboration of naval architect Philippe Briand and interior and deck design by Vittorio Garroni, will have particular appeal to Australian yachties. The builder said deliberate attention was paid to the cockpit design following research showing 80 per cent of time on yachts is spent on deck.

“Sailing, dining, entertaining and pure lounging are all well catered for with a large cockpit that incorporates a sun?deck and an electrically operated stern platform with tender stowage,” said Jeanneau in a press blurb.

“From the cockpit, the bright and spacious saloon is accessed through two large companionway sliding doors. LED lighting, a surround-sound BOSE stereo and the option of a cockpit table fridge are just a sample of features on this very special yacht.

“The true enthusiast will appreciate the long waterline design, the centrally located tankage, the keel stepped three-spreader rig, and the mylar/taffeta sails. For that additional level of performance, such options as a Gori feathering propeller, a classic mainsail, a German mainsheet system, and a Navtec hydraulic backstay are available,” Jeanneau said.

The Jeanneau 57’s design, engineering and construction certified by the Bureau Veritas and built to ISO9001, will provide peace of mind no matter what conditions are encountered, said Jeanneau.

A spokesperson for Jeanneau in Australia told Trade-a-Boat, at this stage, only one 57 is in the water and a price for the 57 has still to be announced, but that negotiations are underway to have one of the big French yachts in Australia later this year.
