NEWS - Andrew Short Marine expands at The Spit

In the middle of an economic downturn not many boat businesses are expanding, but for Andrew Short he says it is an opportunity too good to miss.

Andrew Short Marine — the International Sea Ray Dealer of the Year (2004, 05, 06, 08) — is expanding across the road at The Spit in Sydney.

“We’re opening a new site with 14-berths and large showroom at the d’Albora Marina, which is just across Spit Road from Fergusons Boatshed Marina where we have been operating for two years now,” Andrew said.

“The d’Albora Marina is on the southwestern end of the Spit Bridge and is much more visible to the 75,000 cars which drive past every day.

“Normally in these economic conditions you wouldn’t be taking on extra overhead, but the space became available and I couldn’t pass up this opportunity,” he said.

The new site will open on August 1.

“People will be able to see the larger vessels in the Sea Ray range, which are just beautiful, as well as a number of the unsinkable, legendary Boston Whaler fishing boats,” Short said.

The dealership said the new site will also have an excellent selection of Sea-Al aluminum boats, Quicksilver Inflatable Boats and Mercury outboards on display, as well as a wide range of secondhand boats.

“The view on the water will be brilliant and with the marina building itself getting a long overdue facelift, it’s going to be a wonderful location for people to come and view one of the best collections of boats in Australia,” said Short.

Andrew Short Marine’s main showroom remains at Taren Point in Sydney and the business’s other locations — at Fergusons Boatshed Marina, and Yowie Bay Marina — are unaffected by the expansion.
