JW Marine dealership for sale
Beneteau and Ferretti luxury boat specialist John Waters of JW Marine is finally hanging up his captain’s hat. Now that the JW Marine dealership is for sale, it opens the door for an enthusiastic newcomer to take the wheel of his renowned marine brokerage.
Waters is credited with introducing Beneteau luxury boats to the Australian market, having represented the French brand here since 2003.
JW Marine has since added Ferretti, Pershing, Mochi Craft, Riva and Custom Line to its stable of high-end luxury imports, as well as hosting offices in most Australian states and in New Zealand.
But following the departure of his son (and JW Marine general manager) Adam Waters to Fairline in the United Kingdom, 70-year-old John has been gradually scaling down his operation.
Only the Sydney office on Rozelle Bay still remains and Waters told us he was now looking for someone to take over the business.
“I’ve been winding it back,” he said. “I’m ready to go and play on my farm in Taree where I breed cattle.”
Waters pointed out that all stock had been sold, so the opportunity remains for someone to take over the lease, the name and the brokerage.
“It seems to me to that this is a great opportunity for someone to take over a highly respected and well established brokerage business,” he said.
There is also the option to continue importing European yacht brands, subject to the approval of those companies.
JW Marine has accounted for more than 200 sales of Beneteau motor yachts over the years and recently handed over a new 44ft Swift Trawler to her new owners.
