Steber navy craft on show

Alan Steber, Managing Director of Steber International, proudly reversed the first vessel in a fleet of five commissioned by the Royal Australian Navy onto the Manning River, in front of 200+ visitors who’d come to celebrate the event.

Visitors, including representatives from the Defence Department, took great pleasure in watching the initial speed trials, cornering and handling performance of the locally-made craft, and were later invited to inspect it at a nearby wharf.

Mr Steber said the company used local suppliers and labour where possible, adding that everything except for the engines and some electronics was Australian made.

The vessel, delivered two months ahead of schedule, is now undergoing rigorous commissioning trials before crossing the Manning River entrance at Harrington and motoring to Sydney, where it will fulfill important duties as a Navy support vessel.
