NEWS - Steber wins three awards

Taree-based boatbuilder, Steber International, took out the Large Manufacturer category at the Manning Valley Business Awards 2010 last month.

Conducted by the Manning Valley Chambers of Commerce, a total of 42 local businesses were nominated, with Steber International recognised in three categories, and winning the Large Manufacturer award. The company was also runner-up Overall Business of the Year and runner-up in the Environmental awards. Former Australian test cricketer Glenn McGrath, founder of the McGrath Foundation, was the guest speaker and presenter.

Alan Steber, Steber International general manager in accepting the award, promoted the achievements that his company had made during the last 12 months.

“While many other boat yards have struggled, and in fact some have closed their doors, last financial year was a record for our company for both domestic and export sales,” said Steber.

“Our factory expansion is almost complete and we will soon be conducting interviews for next year’s apprentices.

“The coming year looks even brighter with orders in hand, and with our well-trained staff we will continue fulfilling the customised requirements of our clients,” he said.
