NEWS - CMD releases Light Commercial rating on QSD sterndrive

Cummins MerCruiser Diesel (CMD) says it has developed a Light Commercial (LC) diesel rating to be used in applications which are certified to EPA Tier 2 emissions levels.

Effective immediately, the LC diesel rating will cover 500-or-less annual operating hours or two years, whichever comes first, said CMD. The LC duty rating is being released for QSD 2.8lt 220hp and QSD 4.2lt 320hp engines.

CMD said the LC rating is intended for revenue generating or some government service propulsion applications.

“This is a rating for use in variable-load, planing-hull applications where full power is limited to one hour out of every eight hours of operation. Reduced power must be at or below cruise speed,” explained the company.

In consultation with CMD product application engineers and dealers, the following applications may be considered under the LC rating: patrol boats; rescue boats; assault boats; dinner cruise boats; houseboat rentals; and, runabout rentals.
