MY23 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Range Sets New On and Offroad Standard
New Chevrolet Silverado 1500 range launches in Australia
General Motors Specialty Vehicles (GMSV) has revealed the new MY23 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 range, with the new model offering significant enhancements inside the restyled cabin, advancements in exterior aesthetics and the introduction of the first-ever ZR2, which offers improved offroad capability while maintaining on-road refinement.
The Director of GMSV, Greg Rowe, said, “The new MY23 Chevrolet Silverado will cement itself as the benchmark for those who want to live big as they tour and tow across the country in comfort and style, as well as adventure offroad in the absolute best GMSV has to offer.”
The LTZ Premium offers 4.5-tonne towing while the new offroad-focused ZR2 has 4.2 tonnes available.
The exterior of the new MY23 features a redesigned front fascia complete with new daytime running lights. But the biggest and most immediate change is an entirely new interior. “The inside of the Silverado has been fully redesigned and features a sweeping horizontal instrument panel that makes the cabin feel more spacious and gives it a premium feel,” said Mr Rowe.
This includes a 13.4in diagonal colour touchscreen and new 12.3in diagonal configurable digital instrument cluster and the introduction of an electronic transmission shift control now located on the centre consol. The LTZ Premium will also receive new 20in sterling silver wheels with All-Terrain tyres, jet black leather-appointed interior, adaptive cruise control, a power sunroof and technology pack featuring rear camera mirror, multicolour 15in diagonal head-up display and bed view camera.
Both the LTZ Premium and ZR2 feature the 6.2L EcoTech3 V8 engine, delivering 313kW of power and 624Nm of torque. When towing, the 10-speed automatic transmission provides seamless and smooth transitions from gear to gear.
The ZR2 offers a ZR2 Suspension Package with high-performance lifted suspension and Multimatic DSSV™ dampers, front and rear electronic locking differentials and two-speed transfer case with push-button controls. The drive modes include terrain mode, with ‘one pedal driving’ experience and a front grille-mounted camera for better obstacle visibility. The ZR2 features a unique black chrome grille with a Chevrolet ‘flow-tie’ emblem, exclusive 18in gloss black wheels and jet black/greystone leather-appointed interior with black trim.
Safety is at the forefront in the MY23 truck, with both models offering a comprehensive suite of active and passive advanced safety technology and driver assistance features, including Rear Cross Traffic Alert, StabiliTrak® Electronic Stability Control System with traction control and forward collision alert with low-speed automatic emergency braking.
The Silverado 1500 LTZ Premium and ZR2 are available in nine different colours. The MY23 Silverado LTZ Premium is available in Australia for $128,000 and the Silverado ZR2 is available from $133,000. Keep an eye out for an upcoming tow test by the Caravan World team.
