SET Maritime and Electrical Receives Business Award

The Australian Business Awards (ABA) 2022 have been announced and SET Maritime and Electrical has been recognised as an ABA100 winner.

The ABA Awards, which are in their 17th year, recognises companies that excel in business and product innovation, technological achievement and employee engagement. Awards are divided into categories, with SET Maritime and Electrical taking out the honours in the production innovation space.

SET Maritime and Electrical owner, Mark Smith, is proud of the award and hopes that it will help the company communicate the importance of safety and wellbeing on the water.

“I’m absolutely honoured to receive this award, and it’s great to receive recognition for something I’ve been working on for the last four years,” he said. “I’m also hoping that winning this award will help to raise awareness of the important issue of marine electrical safety, and the obligations of boaties for the safety and wellbeing of all onboard.”

SET’s safety initiative — the shore connection device ESHORE — is an example of the company’s commitment to the research and development of innovative new products. Mark created ESHORE after surveying hundreds of vessels for electrical compliance and learning that many shore connections fell short of requirements. Not only were they ineffective, but they did also not comply with Australian Standards.

ESHORE is a breakthrough in that it is a compact ‘Plug and Play Shore Connection’ that connects boats and vessels to shore power. The patented design is compliant with Australian Standards and is sure to save boat owners money and time.

Not content with its recent victory, SET Maritime and Electrics is also nominated in the Queensland Government Office of Industrial Relations 2022 Safe Work and Return to Work Awards in the category of Best Solution to an Identified Electrical Issue.
