New Riviera 78 Motor Yacht

Riviera Launches New Flagship 78 MY at SCIBS 2021

Leading luxury yacht builder, Riviera dropped a surprise on the opening day of the 2021 Sanctuary Cove Boat Show with details of a new Motor Yacht, the 78MY.

With five orders already in place and the first boats due to arrive with Gold Coast and Phuket, Thailand, owners mid-2022, Riviera used the night before the show to talk to media about the now largest model in the fleet.

Listening to the owners and team behind the design, there is no doubt Riviera is taking the 78MY very seriously with large-scale work needed at its Coomera headquarters to facilitate the build. The lucky first-buyers also had enormous input in how their boats will be presented.

Jacky and Rudi, the Phuket based buyers were initially drawn to Riviera for their excellence in engineering and quality, a reason they confidently upgraded from their existing 68 SMY to their in-build 78 MY. Speaking to the audience via a recording from home, Jackie said...

"The opportunities to personalise the interior of the 78 Motor Yacht was particularly attractive. It will allow us to make it very much our own yacht. We enjoyed immensely our time on the 68 Sports Motor Yacht and we learned a great deal by asking ourselves - what if and wouldn't it be wonderful to have . . . . The 78 delivers on those desires."

Wes Moxley, Chief Executive at Riviera and the man that leads the design and validation processes spoke of Riviera’s push to continue to raise quality and experience for owners telling the crowd Riviera “don't want to follow the flotilla”

Owner Rodney Longhurst spoke to us mirroring the same passion the owners have for the new model as well as the company overall stating “put our boats in any port of the world and they’ll hold their head high”

From Riviera:

The flexibility of the new 78 Motor Yacht design will allow owners to personalise their yacht to reflect their individual tastes and further enhance their lifestyle.

Saloon and bridge decks extend to the stern

The 78 Motor Yacht will be available with an enclosed or open bridge deck and includes accommodation for up to 10 adults in four luxurious staterooms and crew quarters.

The saloon and bridge decks both extend through to the stern of the yacht, offering multiple dining, entertaining and relaxing spaces for parties, family gatherings or quieter moments.

The power to cruise

Power for this magnificent new motor yacht will come from twin MAN turbo diesel engines delivering up to 1,550 hp (1,140kW) each through Twin Disc Quickshift gearboxes and Express Joystick System with integrated station-hold Express Positioning System.

With 10,200 litres of fuel available, she is capable of cruising for more than 1,000 nautical miles or offer speed around 30 knots.

The yacht includes Humphree carbon fibre fin stabilisation.

Riviera is now providing even greater peace of mind by increasing the Structural Limited Warranty on Riviera motor yachts by an additional two years to seven years. The warranty covers seven years or up to 2,800 hours of boating, whichever comes first, once the owner takes delivery of their new motor yacht from the Riviera dealer representative.

The company has also extended its one-year Express Limited Warranty, which covers all non-structural components, to two years.

Riviera motor yachts powered by MAN engines enjoy a five-year limited mechanical warranty for up to 2,500 hours of operation. The MAN Gold Standard Premium covers all MAN branded engines and engine room components.
