Pre-Loved: 2014 Alaska 47 Sedan

This single-level modern classic blends good looks with modern tech and she’s all set for coastal hopping or leisurely inshore jaunts.

It’s no easy task to stand out in the crowded sub-50-foot category, but Alaska Motor Yachts continue to win fans with an appealing blend of tradition and comfort.

These smooth-riding classic sedans have built a loyal following by emphasising solid handling and superior economy and the Alaska 47 is the best-seller in this range.

This 2014-released single-level cruiser presents in sensational condition with less than 300 hours on her twin 480 horsepower Cummins engines, and this model was one of the first to feature an extended hull and swimplatform – now standard.

The additional waterline length provides greater aft buoyancy and this results in greater hull efficiency at cruising speeds, aiding the Alaska’s already-impressive economy.

OPEN LIVING

This stylish cruiser offers living and entertaining on one handy level, with only three steps in the whole boat.

Unrivalled outdoor space is another great feature of this 47 – the aft deck flows seamlessly through to the saloon and the galley runs the full length of the port side.

The fold-away saloon doors are met by hopper windows either side, bringing the outside in and this aft deck alfresco zone is sensibly sheltered beneath a solid GRP hardtop, with side shades for all-weather protection.

Thick acrylic breezeway doors to the side decks further protect passengers socialising aft if the anchorage becomes windy.

At the stern, a Southern Stainless barbecue is fitted to the swimplatform rails right next to the baitboard and rodholders, making it an easy task to dish up some fresh seafood for your guests.

Launching the tender is also made simple via a submersible swimplatform extension that also provides a terrific water-level platform for kids, once the tender is in the water.

EASY BERTHING

At the functional helm with its traditional ship’s wheel, an extra-large triple bench seat is a welcome touch with commanding views forward and clear sightlines aft.

Dual helm-side doors combine with twin stainless steel sunroofs overhead for great natural ventilation.

This ensures short-handing the Alaska 47 is easy for a husband-wife team, with quick access to the side decks, allowing the skipper to quickly move forward or aft to check position or set lines while docking.

At anchor, these twin forward doors promote cross-flow ventilation throughout the yacht, negating the need for air-conditioners and generators in peaceful anchorages.

Docking is further simplified through the addition of an aft cockpit control station on port, ensuring the act of coming alongside your berth is the relaxing experience it ought to be!

MIDSHIPS MASTER

When it comes time to call it a night, this Alaska’s new owners will be pleased to discover a midships master stateroom with an island queen-size berth.

By situating this master stateroom in the centre of the yacht, owners will enjoy less movement and water noise than conventional forward-cabin vessels, and of course, there’s a well-appointed ensuite on starboard.

The second cabin up forward features two large single bunks and loads of storage with a guest bathroom to port and both staterooms include skylights and portlights to allow plenty of fresh air and light.

The galley’s position just forward of the folding saloon doors ensure that catering to hungry guests is a simple and relaxed affair for the yacht chef who will also enjoy an upgraded Isotherm refrigeration package throughout this 47.

Opposite the galley is a stylish L-shaped lounge featuring soft imported fabrics and this meets a high gloss timber table which also has the option of being convertible to a large berth when extra guests stop by.

BLUEWATER PROVEN

Alaska’s winning approach produces efficient performance via less horsepower, but without sacrificing creature comforts.

This is made possible by combining time-proven hull shapes with Cummins reliability. Those timeless lines of the 47 sedan disguise an efficient and contemporary hull design below the water, making this a comfortable and easy boat to own.

The 47 Sedan is a renowned sea-keeping vessel, more than capable of exploring up and down our rugged coastlines as the Cummins QSB 6.7-litre engines deliver cruise speeds in the 9-18 knot range, with an impressive wide-open speed of 22 knots.

Having just enjoyed engine servicing, plus professional detailing and antifoul in May 2019, this Alaska 47 represents an incredible saving on the new price of $1.2 million.
