Pre-Loved: Horizon V65

Location, location; it’s a big deal in real estate and this month we’ve discovered a luxury motor yacht for sale in just the right spot.

This 20m Horizon 65 is based at glorious Hamilton Island – the perfect jumping-off spot for exploring the Whitsundays and Great Barrier Reef.

Just inspecting this vessel will literally be a holiday, not to mention what you could do with the keys in your pocket.

Powered by twin 1000hp Caterpillar C18 diesels and hefty shaftdrives, this Horizon can transport you smartly around the islands at a top speed of 25 knots.

But the boat and its occupants will be equally comfortable trucking for long periods of time at displacement speeds, where the 3800L fuel tanks provide enviable range.

Triple-LEVEL TREAT

Whether the new owner chooses to base this stunning vessel in the sunny tropics or further south, it’s a safe bet to say those offshore adventures will be starting from the upper deck of this 65-footer. Not only does the flybridge offer commanding views while navigating coral reef passes or bringing the yacht alongside your home berth, this Horizon presents a genuine all-weather helming option.

New clears up top guarantee uninterrupted views, but more importantly, keep the skipper and guests safe and dry, regardless of whatever tempest might be erupting outside.

A wide GRP hardtop provides foolproof sun-protection right across the skydeck, where a comfortable curved lounge and portable stools meet a high-low table for dinner or drinks.

There’s teak-look carpet underfoot and either side of the helm station, a pair of curved seats make the most of extra space afforded by the forward-raked lower section of the windscreen.

At the rear of this upper deck is a Rigid Inflatable tender with 30hp outboard. This is conveniently lifted into place and deployed as required with a Steelhead davit crane.

LUXURY LIVING

The interior of this Horizon 65 is more akin to a luxury penthouse than a humble motor yacht. Guests enjoy plush carpet as they wander through the saloon where curtains bring privacy as required, or let the light (and views) flood in.

Exterior teak stairs link the upper and lower decks, and on entering the saloon through the sliding glass door, visitors are met with a sinuous leather lounge winding its way along the port side, opposite a widescreen TV and bar cabinet.

A gloss finish over light timber lends a modern feel to Horizon’s exquisite cabinetry and this continues into the galley – located midships – just aft of the lower helm.

Twin sinks and three burners plus a full-height fridge/freezer will make life easy for the yacht chef who also enjoys views through the wide hull windows.

Another plush lounge sits opposite, this one cleverly curving around to meet the skipper’s helm chair – the perfect spot for a partner or children to keep the captain company while underway.

This lower helm boasts twin Raymarine multifunction screens, CAT engine displays and much more, including a Yacht Controller which synchronises bow and stern thrusters with the throttle for effortless manoeuvring, especially while docking.

ROOMS FOR ALL

The generous 5.3m beam is immediately apparent when you enter the full-width owner's stateroom, accessed via saloon stairs on port.

One side of this master suite features a mirrored vanity desk and stool, while the other houses a daybed for relaxing under the hull window.

Further toward the bow is a double bunk cabin and VIP suite with island queen bed, both sharing access to another ensuite/day head.

But that’s not all. Tucked into the stern of this vessel is a fourth double cabin designed for crew, yet boasting the same superb level of finish that makes every Horizon yacht a standout.

This cabin can be accessed via the full-height engine room and brings the total number of overnight berths to eight guests.

A bathroom/dayhead links this fourth cabin with the swimplatform and provides a handy spot for salty bathers to freshen up – there’s even a fridge here to keep the good times rolling down the back of the boat.

A list of further options such as ice maker

and a watermaker ensure this Horizon is ready to hit the high seas, whether that means relaxing off Whitehaven Beach or exploring the South Pacific.

All that’s left to do is just head up to Hamilton island for a look.
